Overview

The Unit of Measure (UOM) feature allows administrators to define how items are measured, sold, and tracked within the BlueKat system.

Units of Measure are used when managing products, processing customer orders, generating invoices, and controlling warehouse inventory operations.

Examples of units include:

  • Pounds (LBS)
  • Pieces (PC)
  • Cases (CS)
  • Bags (BAG)
  • Each (EA)

Defining accurate Units of Measure ensures that item quantities, pricing, and warehouse operations remain consistent throughout the system.

Other units can be derived from this base measurement for conversions.

Example:

Base Unit  Alternative Units
Each (EA)  Case (CS), Box (BOX), Pallet

Only designated units should be marked as Base UOM to maintain consistent calculations within the system.

Best Practices

  • Use short and standardized codes (EA, LBS, CS).
  • Maintain one base unit per measurement structure when applicable.
  • Avoid deleting units already used in items or transactions.
  •  Set unused units to Inactive instead of removing them.

Common Issues

Unable to Save Unit of Measure

Possible causes:

  • UOM Code field is empty.
  • UOM Code already exists.
